Using the Scoreganizer plugin for Vienna MineSweeper/VSH

In order to participate in tournaments on Scoreganizer, you will need to use the Scoreganizer plugin for Vienna MineSweeper's history tool VSH, or upload your replays manually.

These instructions cover using the Scoreganizer plugin; it is the main intended way to use Scoreganizer.

Step 0: Download the latest beta version of Vienna MineSweeper

Before we start, download the latest beta version of Vienna MineSweeper here.

This tutorial was made with vsweep 5.0.0b2 and VSH 0.2.0b1. That version can be found here.

(The links are the same until a new version becomes available)

Step 1: Start Vienna MineSweeper

You should have 3 files after unpacking the zip: vsweep.exe, VSH.exe, and a readme.

Windows has been reported to be suspicious of VSH.exe and deleting it; if that happens, follow the instructions I'll post and link here in a bit.

Run vsweep.exe.

These are the Windows you should see after launching. They may look slightly different, as this screenshot was taken on Linux/WINE:

Step 2: Enable the Scoreganizer plugin

In VSH, click Plugins > Scoreganizer to enable the Scoreganizer plugin:

Step 3: Confirm that you want to install dependencies

You will be asked to confirm that you want to install dependencies. The Scoreganizer plugin needs a special library to talk to Scoreganizer that isn't installed by default, so we need to download and install it. Click OK to do that:

Step 4: Dependency installation

VSH will now install this library, and the other libraries it depends on. You should see an installation log, and then a dialog telling you that the installation was successful looking something like this:

Step 5: Open Login Dialog

After installing the dependencies, a new Menu item Scoreganizer Client should have appeared.

Select Scoreganizer Client > Login to log in to Scoreganizer:

Step 6: Enter your login info

Enter your Scoreganizer Login info and press OK:

Step 7: Tournaments Dialog

You should now see a Tournaments Dialog pop up, and also ViennaSweeper's Smiley should have turned red, blocking you from playing until you are ready to submit games, or have logged out of Scoreganizer:

Step 8: Select a tournament

Select the tournament you want to participate in. Here, we're going to participate in the WCH 2025 qualifier:

Step 9: Click "Participate"

You may notice that the button on the bottom left now says Participate and is enabled. Click it to register yourself as a participant:

Step 10: Generate your key and play

Once you're ready to play, click Generate key ASAP and play.

Note that in tournaments where you only get a certain amount of time within a certain time frame (like the WCH 2025 qualifier), this is the point of no return - your playtime starts when your key gets generated.

Step 11: Wait for the tournament to start

If the tournament hasn't started yet, nothing will happen until it does - that is normal.

Once the tournament starts, you should briefly see a small popup telling you to wait for ViennaSweeper. It should disappear after about a second, and ViennaSweeper's Smiley should turn green, informing you that you can play.

Do NOT close VSH; it is what uploads your scores. ViennaSweeper should warn you by flashing "no VSH" in the status bar if VSH is closed or has crashed. If that happens, simply restart VSH again, and double-check on Scoreganizer that your games were uploaded (allow for a few seconds for that to happen).

Troubleshooting / FAQ

My windows don't look like the screenshots

If it's how the borders and title look, that's because the instrucions were made on Linux.

If menu items are missing or the steps work differently, check that you are using the right versions!

VSH.exe isn't there

Windows will sometimes falsely detect VSH.exe as a virus. Tell it not to do that.

Where can I see tournament results?

It should be in this list

Click the link, then the Results button. For now, you need to manually refresh the page to see new scores - that will change soon, autorefresh is planned.

What is "Scoreganizer user data"?

You need an account to use Scoreganizer. You can make one here.

I forgot my Scoreganizer user data

You can reset it here.

The CAPTCHA on Scoreganizer is hard 🙁

We know. Feel free to ask other players for help solving it!

I have some other issue

The old client

There is an old command line-based client.

It is terrible in multiple ways, but if you're feeling nostalgic, the old instructions are here.
