Getting from Karlsplatz Station to Freihaus

(From all the subway lines)

Using this guide

This guide uses images of the locations you will encounter to guide you to Freihaus.

The different routes to Freihaus have quite a bit in common. For this reason, they are broken into parts. Links at the bottom of a part will take you to the next part (and stay on the same page).

From the U1

At the center of the platform, there are two long escalators.

Take the pictured long escalator to Karlsplatz. Beware: There are two long escalators. The one to Oper is the wrong one.

This escalator takes you to point A.

From the U2

Take the pictured escalator.

This escalator takes you to point A.

From the U4

Take the escalator at the far end of the platform upwards, as pictured.

This escalator takes you to point B.

From point A

Take the pictured escalator.

This escalator takes you to point B.

From point B

At this point, if you need money, there is an ATM (see first image).

Walk to the exit on the right as pictured in the second image.

From here, walk straight ahead as shown.

You have reached Freihaus. The front door is to your right.

Since the door will be closed as it will be a weekend day, ring the doorbell and tell the receptionist that you are taking part in the Minesweeper World Championship. They will ask you for your name and let you in.

Note that they will look at a list of names that I give to them, and that this is one of the reasons why registering is a very good idea.

Now, walk past the stairs to the computer room as shown.
